About the Artist

I’m a self-taught artist and have been painting for years, first through commissioned work and later through a more intuitive practice of my own.

I don’t paint to produce. I paint when I feel moved to—often as a way of sitting with questions I don't quite have words for. Over time, painting has become another way for me to slow down, pay attention, and trust what emerges.

Arum Son aka Madam Soul Pull as an artist

I don’t paint what I know. I paint the questions I can’t stop asking.

SOUL PULL is an ongoing body of work exploring the ethereal pull between souls—the unseen connection that can exist beyond identity, circumstance, and form.

I’m interested in what we are beneath all the things we use to define ourselves. The dark backgrounds in these works create a kind of absence, while color, texture, and movement emerge from that space. Forms meet, separate, reach toward one another, and sometimes seem to exist as both individual and connected at once.

I paint intuitively, allowing each piece to reveal itself rather than beginning with an answer. For me, the process is as much about questioning as it is creating.

What are we beyond the noise and form? What is it that recognizes, reaches for, or feels connected to another?

To me, the soul is what remains.
